Yes! I'm on a Rant!
I don't expect the practice of piracy and illegal downloading of movies, videos, music, games and other medias. And that's NOT what this article is about.
What I'm venting about lately is the secondary use of MP3 music in the production of videos. Like when you make a YouTube video and use your favorite CD as the background music.
Copyrights and illegal uses aside for a moment ...
It appears we have an entire generation of internet users that are completely okay with this practice. The reason they cite on the forums is two-fold.
(1) It's easy to do
(2) No one is stopping them.
Okay I'm sure that the media giants that own these copyrights can't go after every little illegal use of a video. But they ARE going after the big web sites that are serving them. There are two law-suits that I am aware of (and maybe more) that www giant YouTube is defending itself against, even though they CLEARLY state on their submit form that you MUST own the copyright to anything you submit.
There is plenty of legal MP3 music to download. But hey ... if you bought it in a store or hear it on the radio ... it isn't royalty-free. That means using it for your video is ILLEGAL.
Start with some free loops, free clips, and then move on to some "purchased" MP3 royalty-free music.
Youtube itself isn't the problem. As a matter of fact I really like YouTube. At www.3buckaudio.com it represents over 7% of the traffic as well as the vast majority of the people who download the audio MP3, video, and PDF article downloads.
